Scenario Description: Landholding Network:

A well-known landholding company in Sharjah having over 600 employees has decided to expand its operations into construction as well. It has its main headquarter in Abu Dhabi, UAE and regional headquarters in Manchester, Birmingham and Bangalore. Moreover, they are looking into opening a new branch in Dubai, UAE. The company plans on using an internal network infrastructure that is used by all its employees.

A detailed network proposal is required to be developed by you. The report will provide a framework for Computing Infrastructure options in order to provide a backing for the expanded services for its new line of operations. All the branches have high-speed internet connections. There are approximately 150 users in each branch and 250 in the main HQ.

Assessment Criteria/Marking Scheme:

The proposed solution should include and justify hardware and software requirement and features to support the firm’s expanded services. Moreover, a rational networking strategy should be included with details of principles and protocols to support its expansion to the branch. The following tasks are to be included.
1. Self-assumptions are to be made due to the lack of specificity in the scenario; though, all assumptions should be reasonable and explicitly stated in the report.
2. Identify the features and methodology which would be followed to achieve the solution.
3. Provide a network topology diagram for the proposed solution.
4. Recognize the hardware mechanisms that are needed in order to setup the network for the new operations.
5. High availability should be available for the internal network infrastructure, which is accessible using https protocol.
6. The network infrastructure should be setup in a secure manner and incoming traffic should be scanned for security attacks
7. The users at different locations should be able to access each other.
8. A thorough discussion of alternative solutions and models including justification of your chosen strategy should be included.
